Salmon leather, tanned with vegetable tannins, is characterized by uniformly sized, three-dimensional scale patterns and exceptionally high strength.
Historically, salmon has been processed into leather by the Ainu people and other northern communities, largely due to its durability. Salmon leather is among the strongest of all fish leathers, and with many large specimens available, it was traditionally used for clothing and footwear.
