OEM

We tan raw fish skins and turn them into finished products. It is also possible to tan and process raw fish skins provided by customers. Since we take great care to ensure high-quality leather production, it may take some time. Therefore, we kindly ask that you place your order with ample time to spare for delivery.

Orders for Tanning Only

We can tan not only the fish skins we provide, but also those entrusted to us by our customers, turning them into usable leather. Whether it’s fish you’ve caught yourself or skins from fish we handle in-house, we transform these meaningful materials into durable fish leather. Please note that any post-tanning processing, such as cutting or sewing, is to be carried out by the customer.

How It Works

01

Consultation

We will discuss the condition of the raw fish skins and your desired processing. Please fill in the key points in the form at the bottom of this page. If you have any questions or are unsure about certain details, feel free to ask. To avoid any miscommunication, we will correspond via email and keep a record of the discussion.

Fish Species
Most types of fish can be processed, but some species may not be suitable. Please inquire for details. The fish species we handle as raw materials are as follows:
Red Sea Bream, Yellowtail, Greater Amberjack, Mahi-Mahi, Atlantic Salmon, Sturgeon

Provision of Raw Skins
If you would like to tan skins from farmed fish you’ve raised yourself or fish caught locally, you will need to send us the raw skins.

Color
Please choose the color from our swatch book. In addition to the swatches shown on our website, other colors can also be produced. Custom colors are also available.

Quantity
The minimum lot is 10 pieces per color. Processing fewer than 10 pieces per color is possible, but the cost may be higher. Please understand this in advance.

Intended Use
Different tanning methods are suitable for different applications. For example, vegetable-tanned leather may not be suitable for clothing or soft bags. If you let us know your intended use, we can recommend the tanning method best suited for your project.

02

Raw Skin Preparation / Receipt

If you would like us to handle the raw skins we can provide, we will take care of sourcing them. For those who wish to supply their own raw skins, please send them to our company.

Notes for Sending Raw Skins

  • Please send them frozen.

  • It is easier to achieve a clean finish if the scales are left on.

  • Before freezing, please separate the skins by fish species. It is fine to stack multiple pieces in the same bag.

  • We recommend removing the skin from fillets (three-piece cut). Removing the skin from loins may result in smaller or irregular shapes, making it difficult to produce the final product.

Pricing & Sample Production

For original colors or fish species that we have not processed before, sample production is required first. If the quoted price is acceptable, we ask for prepayment for the initial order only. Tanning will begin once the payment is confirmed. After reviewing the finished sample, if there are no issues, full-scale production will proceed.

04

Full Production & Quotation

After confirming the condition of the raw skins, we will provide a quotation before proceeding with full production. If the quoted price is acceptable, we ask for prepayment for the initial order only. Tanning will begin once the payment is confirmed.

The tanning process duration varies depending on the fish species, processing method, and factory workload, but it typically takes about 1 to 3 months.

05

Delivery

After delivery, we kindly ask you to check the texture, color, and overall quality of the products.

Shipping will be handled via Yamato Transport.

Orders for Tanning to Finished Products

We accept fish skins and provide full-service processing, from tanning to the completion of finished products such as leather accessories. Our experienced craftsmen carefully produce each item according to your desired design and specifications. The minimum order is 10 pieces per color. This plan allows you to entrust all post-tanning processes, including cutting and sewing, entirely to us.

03

Pricing & Sample Production

Based on the details decided during the consultation, we will produce a sample. Since full-scale production will be based on this sample, it is important to have a thorough discussion before sample production. Delivery of the sample typically takes about one month.

04

Ordering Stamps and Cutting Dies

If you would like to emboss a logo or design, a brass stamp must be ordered. Please send your logo data in AI or PDF format. Once the vertical or horizontal size is determined, we will place the order for the stamp. Since the stamp can be used multiple times, the cost is incurred only for the first order.

For full-scale production, cutting is done using dies. For original designs, a die fee is required. As with stamps, the die can be used multiple times, so the cost is only incurred for the first production.

If the design is one that we already handle, no die fee is necessary.

(If the production quantity is small, manual cutting is also possible; however, in this case, the unit cost per product will be higher.)

05

Full Production

Full-scale production will be based on the approved sample. Since leather is a natural material, thickness, firmness, and color may vary depending on the part of the skin or the individual fish. This can result in slight differences in the finished products. However, we make every effort to ensure the products are as uniform as possible, so you can trust us to deliver consistent quality.

05

Delivery

The delivery period is typically 1 to 3 months. Please note that depending on the type of product, fish species, or factory workload, it may take longer than 3 months.

Products will be delivered wrapped in non-woven fabric or similar material.

We can also provide retail packaging, such as gift boxes, upon request. If you are interested, please contact us.

About Color

If you would like a custom color, additional pigment costs will apply. Please provide a color sample in advance or specify the color using a six-digit HTML color code. Please note that since this is dyeing (not pigment coating), the finished color may vary slightly.

Custom dyeing orders are accepted for a minimum of 10 pieces per color. If you choose from our sample book, no additional fee will be charged.

Vegetable Tanning

Vegetable tanning is a method of tanning leather using tannins extracted from plants. It is characterized by a natural texture and durability, and the leather develops a rich patina over time with use. This traditional method is also environmentally friendly.

About Size

We classify sizes according to our own standards. Please refer to the charts below. For fish such as Red Sea Bream and Japanese Amberjack, please see the chart on the left. For fish such as Salmon (in this case, Atlantic Salmon) and Mahi-Mahi, please see the chart on the right.

Fish Leather Size Chart

Please check.

The finish is greatly influenced by the condition of the raw fish skin. Please check for any 'scratches, wrinkles, or marks' in advance.
It may be difficult to see when the scales are still attached, but there may be scratches or marks on the silver side (the side with scales).
Additionally, depending on the temperature and humidity, the progression of the tanning process will vary. The longer the raw fish skin is left untreated, the more it will deteriorate. Therefore, we recommend using vacuum packaging with 'cool express delivery' or similar methods, and shipping it frozen.
When bringing it in, please ensure it is frozen.
If you wish to request custom coloring, please send a color sample or specify the 6-digit 'HTML color code.' Please note that the color finish may vary significantly since this is dyeing and not painting.
For dyeing orders, a minimum of 10 pieces per color is required.
The delivery time is approximately 2 to 6 months. Expedited processing is available for an additional fee.
